sweet spirit place your mark on us
sweet spirit let our mortality be swallowed by life
we're shedding this thick
numb and overly insensitive skin
and trading it for something we can live with
to live and breathe without restriction
now this is your release
we've burned out the eyes of restraint

"sweet spirit place your mark on us"
ReplyDelete-this is like a heavenly fingerprint. Think about how everyone has their own unique fingerprint. In such a way, God is indenting me with his love and his love is his spirit. His spirit is him therefore my being no longer only represents me but I am an image of the father. Therefore I need to resemble the Lord by the way I present myself to what I say when I open my mouth and the actions I show to others.
"sweet spirit let our mortality be swallowed by life"
-the act of living for God is a lifestyle. It's not just something we can chose to be a part of one day and not the other. Being a lukewarm Christian is just as good as not being a Christian. In the sense that we're not furthering God's kingdom here in earth. That's why we have to be swallowed. It's an all or nothing thing. Go big or go home... that's how God does it
"we're shedding this thick numb and overly insensitive skin"
-i'm covered with this plastic coating. It hides my heart. And my heart is where it's all at. It's like when you get a present, we're never content with just looking at our new package from the outside plastic. No, we rib that outer layer off as soon as we can get our hands on it. God is the same way with us, he wants to strip off our thick skin that works as a barrier from us to him.
"and trading it for something we can live with to live and breathe without restriction"
-we trade this world and everything that comes with it: our skin, sin, pain, and frustrations for something that gets us through all of that: God!
"now this is your release"
-God is who we can turn to. No matter what. No matter when. He knows all and he is all. Therefore what do we have to hide from Him. We can tell him anything.
"we've burned out the eyes of restraint"
-take that sin. Our eyes are the heart of our skin. They make us lust and many a times lead us to unloving thoughts and actions. The eyes are the first step to sin. By burning out the eyes, we have freedom and are no longer restrained by the eye-luring temptations of the world.
